Union elections are run in November and March. This is when the students that represent you are elected... by you!! Every student has one vote in the elections; ballot boxes can be found at the union, the library and the gym on Election Day. Before making your vote you can read the manifestos of all the candidates which can be found in the Courier in election week. Look out also for posters, flyers and hundreds of campaign teams around campus during campaign week. Candidates have only have one week to sell themselves so it can get pretty hectic!
Once candidates have been elected, they are your representatives for the year. Officers work to improve the student experience and ensure that every single student has a voice.
(vote electronically at http://vote.ncl.ac.uk)
If you are interested in becoming a student representative, check out the positions available. If you think one is suited to you then get yourself nominated! It is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with your students' union, meet loads of people, have fun and of course greatly enhance your C.V.
Election dates will be advertised around the union and on this website. When this happens you can pick up your nomination form from the general office (2nd floor, union building). You need 12 signatures from your fellow students to get yourself nominated. Once this happens you will need to get a campaign team together and make your publicity....posters, flyers, banners, t-shirts etc.
Once campaign week starts you have need to sell, sell, sell!! Talk to as many people as possible about the elections and why they should vote for you. Get as many friends to help you as possible - the more people talking about you the better. The elections are now electronic so make sure everyone gets voting at vote.ncl.ac.uk
