How the Union works

The Union Society (as it's officially known) is the social hub of the University.  Whatever you need during your time as a student, from a quick bite to eat during lecture breaks, gigs featuring your favourite bands and the odd alcoholic beverage or two, to support and advice, a part-time job, or just a place to chill out with your friends, the Union's got it covered.

Inside its beautiful walls you'll find six (yes six!) bars, five cafes, three shops and a post office, not to mention the Student Advice Centre, Student Community Action Newcastle (SCAN) volunteering network HQ and the Job Shop, and much, much more.

The building is owned by YOU, run by YOU and designed to be used by YOU, the student body.  It's run by students for students and every single member, that is, every single student, has the opportunity to have their say and make decisions about what's going on.  The Students' Union is here to represent YOU, and help you have the best time possible in whatever way we can, so it's a good idea to get connected.

Check out the Services page for information on what we offer to our students. Entertainments and Shops and Cafes show you what else we do for you. Any money we make in your Union goes straght back into providing services for students. We are a charity. Not for Profit. Just for students.
