We have many opportunities for you to complete your volunteer module whilst working with us at the Union Society and in the community...
An exciting chance for you to help out with children at an after school club, and get credit whilst you do it.
Check out this document, and pop by the Activities Centre if you have any questions...
We really want to engage with international students and get them using the Union Society more. With big events planned for November and March, there is plenty to do. We are trying to make our international events as transparent and organic as possible. Therefore, early on in the semester we plan to engage with the students and the student international societies in order to find out what they already do, what they want, how to work with them and have them lead us in the right direction.Your work could be in finding these students, running focus groups, working on events, providing support to students, gathering feedback, leaving documents in place for people in the future. There also is the mechaical process of writing our internationalisation policy with us for the next few years.
So... plenty for us to be getting along with, why not come and help and do a volunteer module placement on internationalisation!

At the Union we are really looking into sensible drinking and making a policy for sensible drinking. This is an up and coming hot topic, getting lots of coverage in the press, so why not work on it with us, researching other Uni's policies and setting one up for the Union Society, and then putting it in place with our team here.

We have many one off placement in the Give it a Go programme which you can do as part of a volunteer module. If you are lacking hours or skills, then you can always help with programme development and marketing for future years. Get in touch, come and chat about what one off volunteering sessions are there for you, and what else you might need to do to make up the hours! Sessions include cleaning up the River Tyne, doing conservation work at Newborn, and working with the National Trust for an afternoon.
